Student Reviews

I attended the 330 hour Teacher Training and graduated spring 2009. I found the experience life changing in all that I learned from the studies of asana and well beyond. The love, light and support of Terry and his team in this training was invaluable to my ability to begin to absorb the daunting amount of information and balance it with the heart of Yoga that comes from this study . The entire experience, including the bonds I formed with my teacher training classmates, is one I would recommend to anyone wanting to teach and/or expand your understanding of Yoga. The depth of this experience for me will endure for all time. The teacher training was the tip of the iceberg for what I need to learn and spurred for me the desire to make this learning lifelong.

I am so glad I chose Triad Yoga to do my 200 hour training. I enjoyed delving deep into the anatomy of the poses and learning more about the energetic applications of yoga. It is clear that the Triad Yoga program staff is experienced, passionate and each brings a unique perspective to the discipline/art of yoga. This program has already opened so many doors for me…I am now part of an amazing community of yoga practitioners and teachers, my personal practice has grown in innumerable ways, and my students have noticed my increased confidence, poise and knowledge in class. Thank you!

I have completed the 200 hour TT and am currently taking the courses for the 500 hour TT. The classes are fun, challenging and invigorating! I have attended many workshops, Rodney Yee, Patricia Walden, Aadil Palkhivala, to name a few, and I truly feel that the classes I had at Triad Yoga with Terry, Suzanne, Martha and all the assistants for TT, were not only informative, but probably the best training anyone could receive to teach alignment based yoga anywhere!! They all care for each individual and have open hearts which makes for the best teachers. They want you to learn it correctly, but also from the heart. I am fortunate to have such skilled teachers so close to home where I can continue to progress in my training and personal transformation.

Triad Yoga Institute’s Teacher Training Program shone light on the path of a lifetime of living and loving yoga. In addition to preparing me to be a yoga practitioner, the program helped me evolve as a yogi.

Curriculum, Expectations & Schedule

The Certification Program

The Triad Yoga Teacher Certification Program is designed to help teachers, future teachers, and enthusiastic students inspire and deepen their understanding and practice of Hatha Yoga. It is the Institute’s intention to help develop the kind of teacher who is excited and passionate about sharing the joy and transformational powers of yoga.

Yoga’s increasing popularity brings with it the need for instructors confident and qualified to bring forth its teachings in our communities. This comprehensive course of study is designed to help students and teachers systematically build knowledge and develop teaching skills. Students of this program may wish to simply deepen their own practice, or develop an understanding of the principles needed to lead safe, instructional, and inspirational classes.

Student-Teacher Requirements

To become an effective teacher, we must first experience being the student. The Triad Yoga 200 Hour Teacher Certification Program is designed for the yoga student with a minimum of two years continuous study and who is now ready to deepen their own practice while learning to teach.

Students of Extended Studies

The Triad Yoga Institute recognizes and accepts that some students may desire to take this training program as an opportunity to deepen their personal yoga experiences and gain new insight on the effect yoga can have in one’s life. These students may opt to not participate in the teaching skills portions of the program and may receive a letter of completion.

The Program Curriculum

The program curriculum is designed to explore many of the traditional components of yoga, including the asanas, pranayama, meditation, the energetic body, and applied yogic philosophy. You will also be introduced to anatomy and principles of alignment so you can adapt yoga postures to suit different needs.

This in-depth curriculum includes:

  • How to observe and understand your students’ bodies
  • Principles of adjusting and modifying yoga postures
  • How to plan and sequence a yoga class
  • How to teach specialized classes like restoratives, prenatal, physically challenged, or classes for the elderly
  • The history of yoga philosophy, its foundations, and how yoga philosophy can inspire your teaching
  • Ethical guidelines for teaching and lifestyle
  • Guidelines for the business of yoga
  • Nutrition for healthier living

Non-contact hours include home study, practice, class room observations and assisting with the faculty, and teaching hours. Due to COVID-19 and state restrictions, class observations and assisting in local classes may be adjusted to a different format.

The goal of this program is to help you learn to teach safe and effective yoga classes. You will also learn to deepen your own practice leading to a healthier body, a clearer mind and a greater sense of peace and joy in your life.
