Join Terry Brown on Saturday, January 25th, 1:00PM – 4:00PM, as he presents hiw workshop, Yoga for Balance and Fall Prevention.

As people age, their balance and speed of gait decreases. When they walk too fast or when they don’t pick up their toes, they put themselves at risk.  Some elders get very limited exercise that may not always address improving functional strength, stability and balance. Also, with aging comes a fear of falling, leading to decreased physical activity and movement, causing them to lose balance and strength, which puts them at greater risk for falls. Yoga, with its gentle movements, can address known fall risk factors.   During yoga, the mind is encouraged to focus on what is occurring in the body and where the body is in space, increasing both awareness and proprioception.

This workshop will present many of the practices and variations of practices that have shown over and over again to help improve balance and reduce the risk of falls.

Workshop cost $65.00, or $55.00 if registered by January 18th.  Registration available under “Workshops”.
