Join Terry Brown, E-RYT500, CPYI, PTA, as he present his workshop “Cultivating Meditation Through Balance and Practice on Saturday, March 25th, 1:00PM – 4:00PM.
We are taught that as we learn to focus in meditation, the result is a calm and steady mind. The balance poses practiced in the Yoga Asana system also help to calm and steady the mind. So it would seem we can use the balance poses of Yoga to help strengthen our ability to quieten the mind and develop focus that then enhances our meditations.
Balance requires a coordinated effort from various parts of our bodies: the inner ear, the eye gaze (drishti), the body’s somatosensory system, (which is what tells us where our feet are beneath us), the strength and stability of the lower limbs, and mental focus. All together, the practice becomes reflective of what we do during meditation.
“The power of balance is the scale of peace.” -Thomas Paine
Workshop fee: $60.00, or $50.00 if registered by March 18th.
